Finale is the concluding volume of Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush Saga, published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers in 2012. After three novels of supernatural threats, fractured trust, lost memories, and a relationship tested by forces neither character could have anticipated, Finale brings Nora Grey and Patch Cipriano to the fight they've been building toward since the beginning.

Fitzpatrick largely delivers on both fronts. The mythology she constructed across the series finds its resolution here, and the central relationship — examined from so many angles across so many conflicts — earns the space it takes up in the final chapters.

Nora's arc across the four books is one of growth under pressure. She begins as a cautious, bookish teenager and ends as someone who has navigated genuine loss, genuine danger, and genuine moral complexity. Whether readers found the journey satisfying has been debated, but the series was a consistent bestseller for a reason: it understood what its audience was coming to it for, and it delivered.

Why It Has Been Challenged

Finale has been removed from Escambia County Public Schools in Florida along with the rest of the Hush, Hush Saga. The objections to the series — dark romantic content, supernatural violence, depictions of power imbalance in relationships — accumulate across all four books, and Finale has been caught up in those challenges despite being the conclusion of a story arc rather than the beginning.

The removal of entire series from school libraries rather than individual titles is a common pattern in book challenges. When one book in a series is challenged and removed, the rest frequently follow. The Hush, Hush Saga is a clear example of this pattern, with all four volumes appearing in the same challenge records in Florida.
